The likes of Lorenzo Insigne, Riqui Puig, Chicharito, and Xherdan Shaqiri have left the European powerhouses to join the ever-growing league. Their arrival also helps teams earn cash by selling their jerseys and merchandise. However, a few European stars have failed to sell their jerseys to US audiences.

Recently, MLS released the list of top-selling jerseys of players and teams. The list was topped by LA Galaxy star, Carlos Vela, followed by Nashville midfielder, Hany Mukhtar. The list also has the name of other MLS stars, including Walker Zimmerman and Thiago Almada. Former Madrid player Chicharito is ranked 7th and ex-Barcelona star Riqui Puig is ranked 10th.

However, aside from such renowned names, the names of Lorenzo Insigne and Xherdan Shaqiri are not on the list. Both of them expected to make booming sales for their jerseys but haven't turned in much revenue. Insigne came to the MLS in 2022 and signed for Toronto FC from Napoli. Meanwhile, Shaqiri also joined the MLS side Chicago Fire FC in 2022 from OL Lyon.

Both have made a significant impact on their sides so far. Neither of them needs an introduction, as both have enjoyed stellar soccer careers. Yet it's quite surprising they have failed to rack up jersey sales for their names. It raises eyebrows even more, as both of them earn massive paychecks.

While the jersey-selling list may raise a few questions, the list of highest-paid players in the MLS may even sound surprising. Both Insigne and Shaqiri earn significant salaries. In fact, they are the highest earners, with Shaqiri topping the list with a salary of $8.15 million. Meanwhile, Insigne earns $7.5 million.

The list is followed by Chicharito with $7.45m, Federico Bernardeschi with $6.3m and Argentinian star Driussi earning $6m. Indeed, it is quite surprising that despite being the highest earners, neither of them made the list of top-selling jerseys. Only LA Galaxy forward Chicharito has made it onto both lists.
