Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies celebrate First Nations culture with 2023 clash jersey
The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies are proud to unveil the club's 2023 clash jersey featuring indigenous artwork by proud Wiradjuri artist, Jayden McLachlan.
McLachlan, who's brother Dylan is part of the ACT Brumbies pathways program, hand-painted the design for the Brumbies First Nations strip, the artwork also being displayed on the club's gameday warmup shirt.
The jersey is the first 'core' ACT Brumbies jersey to feature first nations artwork, the club having produced Indigenous playing jerseys in the past three seasons, as well as Pasifika jerseys in 2019 and 2021.
The circle in the middle on the front represents the current playing squad surrounded by 10 hands, which represent past first nations Brumbies players.
The white, blue and yellow circles surrounding the past and current players, represent the families and Brumbies staff who have assisted the players on their journey.
The back of the shirt depicts the wedge-tailed eagle (Mulleun), a totem of the Ngunnawal people who are indigenous people of the Canberra region. The remaining predominantly blue artwork on the back represents the Brumbies fans who push the team forward with their support.
