Now let's talk gear.
In addition to boosting your stats, some gear also come with special perks such as boosting Drive gauge recovery or reducing incoming damage, for example.
For the early game, the best gear can be acquired through a mix of exploration, acquiring them from mobs by fulfilling specific conditions during a fight, or getting them as rewards. Well, that and tapping your capitalistic side and just outright buying them at the store.
Here are some of the best gear that will tide you ever until the second area of Metro City opens up at Chapter 7.
From Beat Plaza, head west past Faith Avenue to Beat Street until you see a ladder underneath Greedy Grill restaurant, which has a picture of a bear holding wieners on a skewer.

Climb up the ladder and you’ll see a chest that has the Knit Beanie Alpha. This headpiece has better stats than the Street Cap that you buy earlier as part of the story. Don't forget to talk to the Watcher to get an Elixir and also climb the next ladder to get a permanent Punch Booster item.
Next up, follow the Skywalk Lane all the way south to Bayside Park. Just down from the stairs, you will see three trash cans next to a lamppost and fire hydrant. I’m not sure if this is a fixed or random drop but when I destroyed it, I got a Sports Visor, which has slightly better stats than the Knit Beanie. The visor also becomes available at the Drippin’ Style shop when you get to Chapter 2. The Sports Visor should be your best option until Chapter 4.
From here, walk around and go underneath the stairs by the purplish blue flowers to find a chest with the Square Glasses. This accessory comes with the Aware skill, which momentarily gives you Outgoing Damage Boost (M) when your Drive Gauge gets depleted. Use this to replace your Training Gloves.
Now it's time to get you a new shirt. The best option stat-wise at this point in the game is the Oversized Shirt Beta, which drops from several folks in the Downtown South Area basketball court near the Skywalk. It's a bit tricky to get since you must defeat its wearer without taking damage but if you get the shirt, you’re pretty much good until the next section of Metro City opens up in Chapter 7. By the way, you can check a fighter's drops and the requirements to get them by walking up to them and pressing the appropriate button (Triangle for PlayStation and Y for XBOX). Otherwise, you can pause the game mid-fight as well to bring up the drop requirements.
If you’re having trouble getting the black oversized shirt, a good alternative is the white Casual Dress Shirt Beta that also drops from some of the fighters in the same place as the black shirt. In my case, it only required me to hit the enemies that carried it with three low attacks. The stats are a bit lower but it's still solid. By the way, you can hold on to your spares, which you can customize by changing colors or using as enhancement material once you reach Chapter 7. Also be on the lookout for Rough Riders in this same area. They can carry the Leather Jacket Alpha, which they drop if you land a successful attack or throw when they glow white. It has one less point of Defense than the black oversized shirt. But it's great for customizing your style via the change Appearance option, which lets you use the look of a gear you’ve acquired while actually equipping a different piece of gear with better stats.
For pants, you get your best early option at the Drippin’ Style shop once you reach Chapter 2. This would be the Chino Pants, which have a higher defense than the other pants options at this point in the game. You won't get a better option until maybe Chapter 6 and these pants have higher defense than the Denim Jeans that drop from enemies at this point.
The new stock at Drippin’ Style should also include the Riding Boots. This should be your best footwear option at this point and it will last you until Chapter 7.
You can also buy the Wireless Headphones at this point, which gives the Enlightened skill. This provides the Drive Gauge Regen Rate Boost (L) skill but it also comes with a penalty called Incoming Damage Boost (S).
For a safer option, the Chapter 2 boss in Chinatown also drops the Boston Glasses, which comes with the Focus I skill that gives Drive Gauge Regen Rate Boost (S). By this point, I unlocked my second accessory slot as well. Granted, you’ll look like a doofus if you decide to wear two glasses at the same time but you can hide the second one via the Appearance menu. Enemies can drop these glasses as well.
Once you get to Chapter 4, you’ll be able to get your next new headgear. Open up your map and look for a subquest called Safety First. This quest involves some construction workers and will reward you with the Safety Helmet. In addition to having better stats, this also comes with the Rock Solid skill, which activates the Incoming Damage Cut (XL) ability once per battle.
Chapter 5, meanwhile, gives you a subquest involving Retsu. Retsu will drop the Gold Chain Necklace accessory, which gives you 15 extra points for your Throw Strength stat. It also comes with the Throws I skill, which gives you the Throw Strength Boost (S)
Once you get to Chapter 6 you can acquire an accessory called the Thigh High Socks - Bordered. This comes with the Defense I ability, which provides the skill Incoming Damage Cut (S). This is a great accessory to pair with the Wireless Headphones since it helps address the headphones’ incoming damage boost penalty. You can get the Thigh High Socks - Bordered as a drop from Merchant Hawker in the Brazil stage. In my case, it required landing a 10-hit combo, which you can easily do by hitting him with Chun-Li's Hoyoku-sen lightning kick super.
This is also where you can acquire the full Blanka-chan costume by talking to Blanka and agreeing to be his Jungle Sprite double. This has to be worn as a full set so you can't wear any other gear but it provides the best overall stats at this point, especially for Punch, Kick and Unique Attack Strength. This set can tide you through a good portion of World Tour and can even be upgraded so I recommend using it and just layering the look you want.
Once you reach Chapter 7, you’ll unlock the second area of Metro City, which comes with new enemy groups as well as a new store with more powerful gear, though the Blanka-chan outfit is still a great option that lasts you a good while as I mentioned.
CHAPTER 1-6
Mini-games are your best source of grinding money early on and the hands down best option is the Junkyard Smalls’ Scrap Heap game.
For starters, it's way easier than the other two early games you get access to. It also gives way more money than Hado Pizza and is also a lot easier to consistently earn a good amount of money in a short amount of time than Board Breaker Ren's Kung Fu Target game.
All you need to do is switch on Modern Controls and spam your Chun-Li style's Assisted Combo with the Heavy Attack button for an easy 3,000 zenny per run on the mini-game's Easy Mode. Another easy option is spamming Luke's Rising Uppercut via his fighting style, though it doesn't hit quite as hard.
Either way, not bad for less than a minute of work.
Junkyard Smalls is located north of Chinatown. So basically just head west from the Chinatown gate and then go all the way north to reach him. You can't miss him if you use your map.
CHAPTER 1-6
You can earn experience a couple of ways in Street Fighter 6.
One is by sparring with the citizens, especially those that drop boosted experience if you fulfill their battle info goals. The other way is by fighting gang mobs.
Sparring with citizens can take longer since not all citizens provide extra dropped experience so you have to look around. I do recommend sparring with students of masters you have enrolled with, however, since they’re a great way of boosting your affinity level for a specific Master, too. Speaking of Masters, they can give good experience, too, when they offer to spar with you when you reach certain levels of affinity with them.
As far as early quick leveling, though, hanging out in places with waves of gang members is a great way to rack up those levels quickly, provided you survive said waves. One of the best places early on is the alley and wire fenced area just below the skyway where you get the oversized black T-shirt drop mentioned earlier. I actually got ambushed here while farming gear drops and after clearing multiple waves, I jumped from Level 7 to Level 15 very quickly. In some cases, I was getting more than 800 experience per wave, which is the same amount you get from your early spars with Masters like Chun-Li.
Otherwise, the parking lot on South Street has some high-level enemies, as does the Westbay Promenade area near Chinatown.
