Stone Garrett's dad is not a San Francisco Giants fan.

He didn't have a choice but to wear a Giants hoodie for his son's MLB debut as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. And there's reason to forgive him.

Garrett's parents didn't even make it from Sugar Land, Texas, to the Bay Area for the first pitch on Wednesday night. There was no time for shopping.

While Garrett's mom managed to find some mittens and at least wore a denim jacket, his dad, whose nickname happens to be Rock, wasn't so prepared for the weather in San Francisco.

"I knew he was going to do it. I knew he wasn't going to bring a jacket, I knew he was going to have to buy a jacket," Stone told Bally Sports Arizona's Todd Walsh after the Diamondbacks call-up debuted with two doubles and an RBI during a 3-2 Arizona win.

"I’ll get him some D-backs gear. I’ll take care of him."

The lows in the Bay reached 55 degrees at worst on Wednesday night, though we’re betting the wind-chill factor made it feel a little colder at Oracle Park just off the bay. Garrett himself didn't have trouble in the cold.

But in his dad's defense, there wasn't as much time to pack thoroughly.

Garrett's parents told Walsh in a mid-game interview that they’d gotten to Oracle Park just in time for their son's first at-bat. Stone struck out swinging in that one before settling in pretty well over his next two plate appearances.

"(He was) a little rough stone, the D-backs shined him up and hopefully one day he'll be a gemstone."

By Thursday morning, Garrett had hooked his dad up with appropriate attire.

Just getting Stone's parents to the Bay required some trickery.

To announce to his parents over the phone that he’d earned a call-up to the big leagues, Stone told Rock that his mother had put some of his insurance papers away and that he needed her to find them. Then Stone admitted the lie and broke the good news to his parents.

That set in motion their efforts to be there in person for their son's big moment. Likely, that made a likely pricey purchase of the opposing team's hoodie worth it.
