California Love: L.A. Teams Dominate Top of MLS Best Selling Jerseys List for 2022

The West Coast is the best coast, at least when it comes to Major League Soccer jersey sales in 2022.

Players from Los Angeles Football Club and the LA Galaxy took three of the top five spots in the list of best-selling jerseys this season on MLSStore.com through September 1, which the league released on Monday.

Despite only arriving in MLS this summer from Real Madrid, LAFC and Wales forward Gareth Bale topped the list as the most popular player among jerseys sold. His teammate, forward and Mexico international Carlos Vela, landed in third spot. And their crosstown rival from the LA Galaxy, Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, placed fourth.

The No. 2 spot went to Charlotte FC and Austria defender Christian Fuchs. And, after topping the list last season, Atlanta United's Venezuelan striker Josef Martínez slipped to No. 5.

The Seattle Sounders had the most players on the list with four:

Fifteen clubs and 16 countries are represented among the top 25.

Seven players on the list have played in World Cup matches (Costa, Chicharito, Insigne, Lodeiro, Ruidías, Shaqiri and Vela) while six are first-year MLS players (Bale, Costa, Fuchs, Insigne, Shaqiri and Swiderski).
