Parenting needed: Vandals struck Murphy Field again overnight, this time smashing a men's urinal, Thursday. Earlier in the week park employees discovered the sink in the women's restroom had been ripped off the wall.
Down and out: An officer on patrol spotted someone on the sidewalk in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Thursday. The individual, a woman, was lying in a fetal position talking incoherently, with personal items, money and food on the ground around her. She was able to tell them she was OK, but very cold and had no idea how long she’d been lying there. Police said she was unable to sit still and was making odd noises, behavior they say is consistent with methamphetamine use, and the woman told them she’d recently been released from drug rehab.
Misbehaving: Callers reported juveniles throwing things at vehicles passing through Brady Circle West at Sunset Boulevard, Thursday. No description was provided and when officers checked the area, they didn't see any children misbehaving.
Costly mistake: A Cleveland Avenue man got hoodwinked by scammers, Thursday. He said he came across a lending company online and when he called them, the person he spoke with said they could loan him $8,000 with a monthly payment. That person passed the call to another individual who told him to go to Wal-Mart customer service, and once there, sent him a bar code number and told him to use it to deposit $1,500, then had him purchase two Visa gift cards and put $480 on each of them and give him those bar code numbers. All told, he's out $2,500.
Likely story: Callers reported a woman in a green hoodie yelling in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Thursday. She told officers she was talking loudly on her phone.
Grab and go: A man grabbed two cases of diapers valued at $90 and fled Kroger, Thursday. Police reviewed footage and said they recognized the thief.
Booked: April Stanley, 48, no fixed address, possession of drug paraphernalia, Thursday. Samantha Jo Cremeans, 28, 832 South St., Steubenville, and Dessi A. Reynard, 37, 182 township Highway 167, Mingo Junction, possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on North Seventh Street Thursday. Cremeans, the driver, also was cited for an expired driver's license and a display of plates violation.
Cited: Tatyana K. Dixon-Lamb, 22, 770 Brady Ave., Apt. 21, Steubenville, no operator's license after she allegedly backed into a parked car.
Cited: Brian A. Albert, 65, 4811 Garden Acres, Steubenville, failure to yield right-of-way following two car collision Thursday at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Lovers Lane.
